District Staff

Josh Kurpies, District Director
As District Director, Josh is responsible for managing the daily activities of the district staff while also serving as the chief representative at meetings and other community events when Assemblymember Bloom is in Sacramento. Josh also assists constituents and community groups with projects that have a community benefit or impact. Previously, Josh worked as a Scheduler and Legislative Aide to then Assemblymember Nancy Skinner. Josh has also served as Special Assistant to former Governor Gray Davis and as Council Deputy to then West Hollywood Mayor, Jeffrey Prang during which time he also served on the West Hollywood Public Facilities Commission & Rent Stabilization Commission. Josh studied Political Science at the California State University, Fullerton, lives in West Hollywood, and runs marathons to raise money for the AIDS Project Los Angeles where he has raised $15,000 to date.

Tim Pershing, Senior Field Representative
As a Senior Field Representative, Tim represents Assemblymember Bloom at assigned meetings or community events throughout the district and also assists constituents and community groups with projects that have a community benefit or impact. Prior to joining Assemblymember Bloom's office, Tim worked as a Field Deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. Tim has also served as the Political Analyst for the International Mission to Monitor the 2006 Haitian Elections and as the Senior Field Researcher for the International Crisis Group. For nearly 20 years, Tim was a consultant for various Haiti-based nonprofits. He has also worked as a photojournalist and writer covering the Balkans, Haiti, the U.S – Mexico border, environmental issues and U.S. politics. Tim has a doctorate degree from Brandeis University and lives in Topanga with his wife and children.

Stephanie Cohen, Senior Field Representative
As a Senior Field Representative, Stephanie represents Assemblymember Bloom at assigned meetings or community events throughout the district and also assists constituents and community groups with projects that have a community benefit or impact. Prior to joining Assemblymember Bloom’s office, Stephanie worked for former Assemblymember Holly J. Mitchell. During her time with Assemblymember Bloom she has been instrumental in creating seminars throughout the district to educate the community on the Affordable Care Act, common senior scams and homelessness. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2012 with degrees in Political Science and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures and currently lives in Westchester.

Tim Harter, Senior Field Representative
As a Senior Field Representative, Tim represents Assemblymember Bloom at assigned meetings or community events throughout the district and also assists constituents and community groups with projects that have a community benefit or impact. Prior to joining Assemblymember Bloom's office, Tim worked in the Arizona State Legislature handling constituent affairs. Tim graduated from Arizona State University in 2009 with a degree in Political Science and lives in Santa Monica.

Andrew Aldama, Caseworker/ Office Manager
As Caseworker and Office Manager, Andrew assists constituents with various disputes involving state agencies such as unemployment or disability insurance, veteran’s benefits, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Franchise Tax Board and manages many administrative responsibilities. Prior to joining Assemblymember Bloom’s office, Andrew interned for Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez in her Washington, D.C. office. Andrew graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2013 with a degree in Politics and lives in Los Angeles.
