On Wednesday March 14, exactly one month after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Assemblymember Richard Bloom led California legislators in participating in the National School Walkout to remember the seventeen victims of the shooting and to stand in solidarity with students across the country fighting for gun control legislation. Flanked by staff and other supporters, legislators stood in silence on the north steps of the Capitol for 17 minutes, one minute for each victim.

On Monday, March 12th, Assemblymember Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) honored Karen Stuart, Executive Director of the Association of Talent Agents, as the 2018 “Woman of the Year” for the 50th Assembly District.   Stuart was recognized for her leadership at the ATA as well as her work to combat sexual harassment and discrimination in the entertainment industry.

Assemblymember Bloom protested the Trump Administration's proposal to open the California coast to offshore oil and gas drilling at a "Protect the Pacific" rally in Santa Monica. The rally was held in partnership with environmental organizations including the Surfrider Foundation, Sierra Club CA, Senator Ben Allen's Office, Heal the Bay, NRDC, 350.org, Los Angeles Waterkeepers, and the American Indian Movement.

Project Angel Food cooks and delivers over 500,000 nutritious meals each year, free of charge, to families throughout Los Angeles County that are affected by life-threatening illnesses.
