Sacramento –Governor Newsom signed AB 849 authored by Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) in response to troubling reports concerning the treatment of senior citizens in skilled nursing facilities.  AB 849 ensures skilled nursing facilities are held accountable for violating the rights of seniors by allowing civil penalties on a per violation basis which is intended to deter potential violations and hold facilities accountable for how they treat their residents.

Sacramento – AB 412 introduced by Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes (D -San Bernardino) passed the California Legislature and it on its way to the Governor’s desk. 

AB 412 would create the California Commission on Human Rights. Currently, at the State level, there is no entity that is tasked with overseeing the status of Human Rights violations. The Commission will review the status of human rights, create regular reports and propose policy solutions to human rights shortcoming so that the rights of all Californians are met.

Sacramento –With the passage of additional state budget bills by the Legislature, Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) highlighted local funding priorities that were included in the state budget. 

Sacramento – The Legislature voted to extend the COVID eviction moratorium and Rent Relief Plan extension, action which will prevent mass evictions as the existing moratorium was set to expire on June 30th.   Assembly Bill 832 jointly authored by Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Reyes (D-San Bernardino) extends the current eviction moratorium until September 30th, 2021 and increases rental assistance to 100% of back rent owed for tenants and landlords.  It is estimated that nearly 900,000 California renters owe an average of $4,600 in back rent.  The Census Bureau’s Househol

Sacramento –Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes’s (D-San Bernardino) legislation, AB 469, passed the Assembly Floor. This bill will ensure that high school seniors complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
