The Museum of Redlands Celebrates $2 Million in State Funding Obtained by Assemblymember Reyes

The Redlands Historical Museum Association, along with the City of Redlands, gathered to celebrate $2 million in state funding for the completion of the construction of the Museum of Redlands (MOR), thanks to the advocacy of Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes. The funding was allocated to the City of Redlands as a part of the 2023 California State Budget. 

The MOR promises to be a first class museum capable of hosting exhibits from across the country. Its mission will be to preserve and celebrate Redland’s heritage while seeking to deepen understanding through interactive education. Education will include contextualizing past choices, present circumstances, and future possibilities in order to strengthen the bonds of Redland’s diverse community. Construction of the MOR is expected to be completed in 2024.

“Arts and culture are critical to the fabric of any community, including ours here in Redlands” said Reyes. “Finding the funding for the completion of the MOR has been a dream for many over the last few years, and I am glad that funding from the state will now support making this dream a reality.”

“Now that the state funding has been secured, the Museum of Redlands is within 1.5% of full funding,” said Steve Stockton, President of MOR. “It was rewarding to talk to, and receive encouragement from, Assemblymember Reyes about our project. More than 1000 donors have made the museum possible. Thank you, again, to our Assemblymember.”

Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes, the Majority Emeritus Leader of the California State Assembly, is available for interviews in Spanish and English. She represents Assembly District 50, which includes all or parts of the cities of Colton, Fontana, Loma Linda, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Rialto and San Bernardino, as well as unincorporated Bloomington.
