Assemblymember Bloom & Advocates Announce Introduction of Hearing Aid Insurance Bill

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Bloom (D – Santa Monica) announced the introduction of legislation to require health insurance policies and plans to cover hearing aids for children. Bloom was joined by co-authors Assemblymember Kevin Mullin (D-South San Francisco) and Assemblymember James Gallagher (R-Yuba City), as well as advocates and families supporting the bill.

 

Bloom bill would change rules for animal blood banks

Assemblyman Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) has introduced Assembly Bill 366, also known as the California Pet Blood Bank Modernization Act, which would allow animal blood banks in California to utilize a donor blood collection system for dogs and cats.

President threatens to cut FEMA funding amid political turmoil

Representatives from the state of California are reeling following a Wednesday, Jan. 9 tweet from President Donald Trump that threatens to withhold funding provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest[sic] fires that, with proper Forest[sic] Management, would never happen,” Trump’s 7:25 a.m. tweet reads. “Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!”
