Assemblymember Reyes Introduces Bill to Curb Domestic & Dating Violence on College Campuses

Sacramento– Earlier this week, Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino), introduced AB 2070 which is aimed at preventing both domestic & dating violence on college campuses. AB 2070 would expand on existing mandates for college campuses to engage in orientation and outreach programming on preventing sexual assault.  With AB 2070, colleges will now have to include prevention training and present resources to students in regards to domestic and dating violence as they would when discussing sexual assault.

Assemblymember Reyes Statement on Governor Brown’s State of the State Address

Sacramento –Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-Grand Terrace) released the following statement on Governor Brown’s State of the State address that occurred earlier today.

“With a democratic controlled legislature and Governor, California has been able to make major accomplishments while Washington DC continues to play politics and games. The State's increased commitment to financially supporting our public colleges and universities is exactly what needs to be happening as we move forward in mitigating the student debt crisis and costs of a college education.”

Legislation Authored by Assemblymember Reyes to Bring Over $60 Million in EPIC Funds to Low-Income and Disadvantaged Communities

Sacramento– On January 18th, the California Public Utilities Commission made a final decision on funding its clean energy research program through 2020. The decision provides for the funding of  the Electric Program Investment Charge or EPIC program, $60,000,000  which will be allocated to benefit low-income and disadvantaged communities.

Sacramento– Earlier today, Assemblymembers Eloise Reyes (D-San Bernardino), Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) & Marie Waldron (R-Escondido) alongside industry stakeholders and advocates in the “Me Too” movement, held a press conference to announce the introduction of AB 1870, the SHARE Act (Stopping Harassment and Reporting Extension) aimed at addressing the issue of harassment in the workplace.

Assemblymember Reyes Appointed to Leadership Team as New Assistant Majority Whip

San Bernardino – Yesterday, the Speaker of the Assembly, Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) made changes to the Democratic Leadership team for the 2017-18 regular session. 

Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) was appointed as Assistant Majority Whip.   The Democratic leadership team will help lead the Assembly as members continue tackling sexual harassment, leading on climate change and clean energy and advocating for workers’ rights.  The Assistant Majority Whip is one of eight Democratic leadership positions in the Assembly.
