Assemblymember Reyes Statement on Bullying

San Bernardino – The following is a statement made by Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes in connection with recent events surrounding bullying and the recent passing of Rosalie Avila, a victim of bullying in school.

“The recent events that transpired in Yucaipa are deeply troubling and the loss of Rosalie Avila is completely unacceptable and should have been avoidable. Although the State of California has done much in the way of passing legislation addressing bullying in schools, there is clearly more work that needs to be done.

Assemblymember Reyes Holds State of the 47th District Event

San Bernardino – Yesterday, Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) held a State of the 47th District event at San Bernardino Valley College. The event was attended by elected officials, community partners and advocates as well as friends and family. The State of the 47th event was held on the one-year anniversary of Assemblymember Reyes being sworn in to the Legislature. The event highlighted the progress being made on important issues throughout the Inland Empire but especially in the 47th District.

California legislators to introduce bipartisan bill to give victims of sexual harassment more time to file claims

A bipartisan group of legislators said Wednesday they plan to introduce a bill next month to give victims of sexual harassment additional time to file claims.

The proposal, by Assemblywomen Eloise Gomez Reyes (D-San Bernardino), Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) and Marie Waldron (R-Escondido), would give both public and private employees more time to come forward with a claim. A spokesman for Reyes said the legislators are working to determine what the new timeframe should be.
