Legislation to Bring Renewable Energy to San Bernardino and Similar Communities Passes Assembly Floor

Sacramento – Today, AB 523, the Equity in Clean Energy Investment bill, was approved by the full State Assembly and passed to the State Senate. The bill requires the California Energy Commission to allocate at least 25% of the money used for the deployment of renewable technologies to be used in disadvantaged communities and another 10% to be used in low-income communities, through the Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) program.

Assemblymember Reyes Passes Five Bills Out of Appropriations Committee

Sacramento – On Friday, Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) passed five bills out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee. Any bill that is deemed to have a fiscal impact of over $500,000 dollars or that meets other criteria must pass through the committee.

Of the bills that passed through, these bills seek to address issues over immigration protection, bilingual teacher education, student equity plans in Community Colleges, creating a domestic violence prevention fund and the assessment of the state’s CalVet homes for efficiency.

Statement on Trump's Proposed Budget

Budgeting, far more than the balancing of revenues and expenditures, is an expression of priorities and values.  With the release of the Trump administration’s budget we clearly see that the President’s priorities are the continued protection of the top 1% at the expense of our children and working families.  The Trump budget proposal relies on false economic assumptions while paying for tax cuts on the backs of our most vulnerable populations.

Assemblymember Reyes Statement on Repeal and Replace Healthcare Plan Passing the House

Sacramento – The American Health Care Act, also widely known as TrumpCare, passed a vote in the House of representatives 217-213 this afternoon. Under this new assault on healthcare, an estimated 24 million Americans will lose coverage including large numbers of veterans, the elderly and those on fixed-incomes.
