Beat The Heat: Resources For Staying Safe

Beat the heat

Everyone can be susceptible to the dangers of extreme heat. Here, my team and I have compiled resources for you and your loved ones to stay safe this summer.

Beat the Heat Care Kits

For the rest of the summer, my district office will keep Beat the Heat Care Kits on hand with items like sunscreen, fans, sunscreen and more. You can get yours at one of our upcoming events, or by stopping by our office during business hours.

Utility Assistance

Struggling with utility payments and need help to keep the air conditioning running? The California Public Utilities Commission provides the income guidelines for energy assistance through the CA Alternate Rate for Energy (CARE) and Family Electric Rate Assistance Programs.

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Notification

Public Safety Power Shut Offs are temporary power shutoffs during dangerous weather conditions in order to prevent the electric system from causing a fire to start. Shutting the power off is usually the last resort.

Flex Alerts

A Flex Alert is a call for consumers to voluntarily reduce energy consumption to decrease stress on electrical grids during a high-heat day or during an anticipated shortage of energy supply. Sign up for flex alert notifications to help avoid public safety power shutoffs and unexpected outages.

Pet Safety

We love our cats, dogs and pets of all kinds, so their safety in the heat is also a priority. Several social media accounts post reliable, proven safety tips. You can follow these and similar for advice:
