(San Bernardino) – Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks was memorialized in downtown San Bernardino with a life-sized bronze statue, which was made possible when Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D–San Bernardino) secured the funding in in the 2017 state budget. “We’re celebrating her courage. We’re celebrating the fact that we have someone who came before us who did take a stand,” Assemblymember Reyes said during the unveiling, “and I think that often times we forget that it takes one person to begin a movement. It took her to begin that movement.”
